My Favorite Holiday

This week I am going to talk about my favorite holiday.

Let's get right to it.

My favorite holiday is...... *drum roll*

For those of you who know me as a foodie you'll know that this is a FAVORITE day for me? Why?

Well, FOOD of course!

Yes, I am thankful for the MANY blessings poured into my life, but I try to live that out daily, not just every 4th Thursday in November.

This is why I am unashamedly personifying this line.

LOL. Thanksgiving has it's traditional dishes, but I always like to dream of jumping whisk first out of the box.

Do I ALWAYS create all sorts of fun and different dishes?

Well, no.

We tend to fall back on many of the classics because of their popularity, but that is just fine by me! I donn my apron for what feels like 12 straight hours and scramble around preparing for 6-20 people. It's varied year to year. We make it a habit to open up our home every Thanksgiving to those in our church who do not have family in town. It's a great way to show people love in a tangible way. It's also a fun way to get to know each other.

Last year we hosted my sis and her hubby along with a couple of friends that come to visit us every year here in WV from GA. Here we all are!

We had the traditional dishes, but I really wanted to make a fancy schmancy cheese display.

OH BABY. Was it ever good! I totally didn't keep the picture of it and APPARENTLY did not post it. WHA?!!!?!!

If you know or follow me on social media I post almost all of my food.

Seriously mourning that I never posted the cheese display.

So yeah... Thanksgiving. Back to the actual reason why I am blogging today.

I appreciate the many opportunities that Thanksgiving affords me to prepare for the Holiday Season, open my home to new people, reconnect with family and friends all while expressing my gratitude for what our Lord has blessed us with through the year.

It's just wonderful.

  1. Thanksgiving is my favorite too! I love the Turkey Trot, the parades, the football, the food, and the family.

My 1st week at my NEW JOB!!

Guys I got the job!!!
I am so excited I can't even begin to express it! I'm paying for my girls to be able to go to school and I'm contributing towards bills and it feels wonderful!! I know that as a stay-at-home mom I contributed a lot to my family dynamic, but there's something about being able to give financially towards expenses that feels amazing!
Anyway, my first week passed and I can't tell you how great it was. The first three days I was training and would have to say that while I had what I feel like we're "training wheels" I was able to glean a lot of information from the person training me. By the fourth day she sort of did the 50/50 of letting me work by myself and assisting me. By day 5 she had gone out of town and I was working by myself! I can't tell you how awesome it felt to be able to sit at my desk and do the job that I was trained to do within 5 days AND feel like I was doing it well. It's a great feeling.

It also doesn't…

Week 15 Day 2

The second day of going to the gym was pretty good.
I worked legs. Was pretty happy with it. Did 120 weighted squats. I did half of them with two 15 pound weights standing on the floor and the other half with a 25 pound kettlebell on a Bosu ball.
The squat challenge has been great, but its almost over so I'm already anticipating what I will do next.
I found this beginner chart that gives me the squats I currently do on a daily basis. The end of this challenge only takes me up to 150 squats by day 30. The new one that I found yesterday but I am going to start on October 1st will take me up to 250 squats by day 30.

There is also this one that will give me variations that I can do on a daily basis. I was thinking about doing both of them.

I didn't know what each of these squats actually meant, but there is a link that I go to to teach me each one.

Anyway, here's my blog from that workout.

Week 15 Day 1

I can hardly believe that I have made it to 15 weeks of working out consistently. I've been eating healthy and gluten free for that long too! It's amazing to see how my body has changed and my energy level has been impacted. I am so very happy about what  diligence has done for me. I never want to go back to being inactive.
I have been thinking about different goals. Finding myself considering how I can best  take my workouts up a notch. Never thought I would see myself be the person that would need to tweak a work out because I've gotten stronger. I have never stuck to anything long enough to see myself get to that point. It is beyond exciting.
I was in the car the other day and was daydreaming about learning something new like kickboxing or MMA. The crazy part about it is that it is totally possible for me to do something like that. I mean, I have been active long enough to where I could see it being a definite possibility. Maybe I should take a look around in my area …
